Lodge Lake

Lodge Lake enjoys a continuous flow of crystal clear water through it originating from artesian wells rising in the old watercress beds upstream. The water is a constant 10.5 degrees centigrade throughout the year as it emerges from the chalk aquifer providing perfect conditions for trout and the aquatic food chain the lake supports. Favourite flies used by members; damsel fly nymphs, buzzers and blood worm imitation.

Season: 15th March - 31st January inclusive

Fish: Stocked regularly with triploid rainbow and brown trout up to 10lbs in weight. Average weight 3.5 lbs - 4 lbs

Willow Lake

Willow Lake is connected to Lodge Lake by a channel and enjoys the same continuous flow of crystal clear water through the lake which originates from artesian wells flowing through watercress beds upstream. The water is a constant 10.5 degrees centigrade throughout the year as it emerges from the chalk aquifer providing perfect conditions for trout and the aquatic food chain the lake supports. All four lakes fished by Croxley Hall Trout Syndicate members enjoy abundant fly life throughout the season. Favourite flies used by members; damsel fly nymph, montana nymph and buzzers fished mostly on floating lines.

Season: 15th March - 31st January inclusive

Fish: Stocked regularly with triploid rainbow and brown trout up to 10lbs in weight. Average weight 3.5 lbs - 4 lbs

Bridge Lake

Bridge Lake is accessed via a footbridge over the old river Colne. It was excavated during 2007 in the old watercress beds known as an area called "Lavocks". Lavrock Lane is situated half a mile to the north of the lake. Bridge Lake was previously fished by CHTS members until 2020. During 2021 carp were grown in the lake until it was drained down in October 2021 when all carp were removed. The lake has it's own artesian water supply which flows through the lake and exits under the old River Colne and feeds into Lodge lake. Favourite flies used; damsel fly nymph, buzzers and shrimp imitations. Dry fly fishing can be prolific at certain times.

Chess Lake

Chess Lake, as the name suggests, is located alongside the river Chess.. It is not fed by the river Chess but as with all the other three lakes is fed by cool crystal clear artesian water through underground pipes from Willow Lake. Chess lake empties into a carrier stream which eventually flows into the Grand Union Canal in Rickmansworth. Chess Lake is the newest of our lakes and it is anticipated it will share some mayfly hatches being alongside the river Chess

Season: 15th March - 31st January inclusive.

River Chess

Croxley Hall Trout Syndicate (CHTS) members have exclusive access to a private beat of the River Chess located at Sarratt bottom. River fishing is offered to members as an optional extra to fishing the four spring fed crystal clear lakes at Croxley Hall Fisheries near Rickmansworth as part of the syndicate membership. All fly-fishing on the river Chess is catch and release. Members are required to book a session to fish the river as numbers are restricted to ensure the best possible fishing experience this fantastic beat offers.

Season: 1st April - 30th September inclusive

Fish: Stocked regularly with triploid brown trout up to 2.5lbs in weight. Wild brown trout also present.
